Christmastime is Here!

It is almost Christmas and we’re all getting excited about it.  I’ve been letting my kids draw, cut and paste ornaments, greeting cards, candy canes and just about anything else they can dream up while I busily cut string and tape to hang their creations on our little gingerbread tree.  We’re having a good ‘ole time!

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS BACK HOME!

My spelling book has all Christmas words in it.  It’s making me long for a fireplace, apple cider and a book…not to mention some snow!  It’s a breezy 84 degrees here on our tropical island as we celebrate Jesus’ birthday and tan our fair skin :) Hey, there are positives to every situation and circumstance…somebody’s cold and reading my book by a cozy fire while I’m warm, enjoying the crystal clear lagoon and tropical breezes.  It’s all good.

One quick update, the Colombian fundraising dinner for Search.Love.Rescue was a total success!  Over 100 people attended the dinner and bid on the silent auction gifts.  All told, the beautiful people who came out contributed $2500 for the continued support of the orphanage in Cali.  How thankful I am to be able to take part and help organizations like these and I love to see people’s hearts turned to help the poor and the needy in this world.  We have so much to give, and there’s so many who stand in need.  I’m happy to fill that gap just a little bit more…aren’t you?

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas…but it’s not helping much!  It finally stopped raining around Thanksgiving Day and has only rained maybe three times since then.  Interesting seasons at the equator.

It is getting extremely busy here as we are preparing for the school Christmas program.  We are adding a play, courtesy of Jon Dunmire, to the usual choir program.  It is sharp, witty and the kids are doing a wonderful job with it!  It’s going to be a great program.

Only nine more days until Christmas break.  It is amazing how quickly this year is flying past.  But I knew it would.  There are many things I’d like to write about but it will have to wait until after the new year.  Too busy now!  But that’s a good thing :)
